Upcoming Events
Please note that the AROC Events Team have cancelled AROC Live, which was due to take place at MOD Woodbridge on 31st August.

You may also have seen that on 7th September there is an Italian Car Picnic at Honnington Gardens, Honnington Farm, Vauxhall Lane, Southborough, Tunbridge Well. They say Saturday, the AROC diary says Sunday, but we will check. The cost £3.50 per adult, under 16's free. It sounds interesting and it's in aid of Kent Air Ambulance, so if there is enough interest we could attend as a section.

We all had a great time at the section BBQ on August 3rd at the Hook & Hatchet. It did rain for some of the time, but with the shelter provided it was no problem. Photos should appear here soon!

On Sunday 21st September, Ali & Crippen have agreed to do one of their Country Drives. We have no further details as yet, but this could be in the Goudhurst area, with poss' finish at a restaurant or pub, as usual. Please let Jeff know if you would like to take part.

Jeff has received details of a fund raising Classic Car event, organised by Harris HospisCare. The date is Sunday 28th September and it starts and finishes at Penshurst Place Nr Tonbridge. The route is approx 100 miles, entry fee is £40 and you are expected to provide £60 of sponsorship. Jeff has more complete details for anyone who is interested.

Latest Update
The Boughton Monchelsea Classic Car & Transport Show was held on Sunday 6th July. Seven Alfa's were displayed and there were various other car clubs in attendance + stalls selling items of interest. You could also look around the gardens, but not the 16th Century Elizabethan Mansion. Unfortunately the weather got worse as the day went on, with strong winds and rain, so we all left a little early. Many thanks to those members who displayed their cars.

We had a really excellent turn out for June's monthly meeting at 'The Three Horseshoes', Knockholt. Sixteen Alfas were present. The landlord is a keen car enthusiast and after inspecting all the Alfas, chose Marvin Fowler's GTV 1750 as the car he would most like to take home. He then presented Marvin with a certificate - well done Marvin! Some members, including Mark Fuller - GTV Cup, and Paul Kempthorne - 156 GTA, were taking others for a spin in their cars - all were having great fun. Many thanks to The Landlord, and to Doug Hodson for organising this for us, what a great evening.

Many thanks to Ali & Crippen Jarman for an excellent and testing Treasure Hunt on 22nd June, and congratulations to Mark & Helen Fuller who finished 1st. Well done also to Ray & Kate Skilling who were runners up. The weather was good and Lenham and Faversham were great for looking for clues.

Pictures from the Bromley Motoring Pageant
We were really lucky with the weather at Bromley Pageant on Sunday 15th June and put on a good show with an excellent turn out of cars. Many thanks to Lee Moore for arranging this for us, and a big thank you to the owners of all the Alfas on our stand.

Any Interest?
Jeff now has a new batch of stickers displaying our section 'Logo', they measure 10 x 7 cm approx, price is £2-50 each (same as the last batch). Jeff can send these by post, but you would need to cover the cost of postage. There are also larger 20 x 15 cm versions (limited number), these would be an extra £1-50 each. Many thanks to Jonathan & Peter Francis for supplying these.

We will be running a photo/art/sculpture competition throughout this year. All entries should have an Alfa Romeo related theme. More details later, but in the meantime don't miss any opportunity to create your entry! This is open to all, with a seperate prize for children.

If anyone is interested in arranging this year's BBQ, would they please contact Jeff. It is usually held about the 1st week in August, but any weekend around then would be OK, as long as it does not clash with other events.

Anyone interested in a visit to The Observatory Science Centre, Herstmonceux, East Sussex, (located within the grounds of Herstmonceux Castle) please let Jeff know. The date and time is to be arranged if there is enough interest. You can check out the website at www.the-observatory.org.

There is a possibility that we may arrange a 'Walking Treasure Hunt' around a town, more details later, but please let Jeff know if you would be interested.
